Curriculum - Years Seven and Eight

EISL follows the National Curriculum for England and Wales, adapted to meet the needs of our international student body.

The following subjects are taught by specialist teachers in Year Seven and Eight classes:

Foundation Subjects:

  • Geography
  • Performing Arts (Music & Drama)
  • Physical Education

  • Portuguese
  • French

Curriculum - Year Nine

In order to prepare pupils for their IGCSE examination courses in Years Ten and Eleven, pupils in Year Nine are provided with a wider range of subjects to study than in previous years.

   

All Year Nine pupils will study the following subjects, all taught by specialist teachers:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Biology
  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Portuguese
  • French

sciences are now taught
as separate subjects

  • ICT (Information and Communications Technology)
  • Physical Education
  • Performing Arts (Music & Drama)
  • Art
French is taught to those students the school considers
are able to continue with two foreign languages

Options

During the second term, pupils in Year Nine will be asked to consider the options available to them as examination subjects in the Senior School.  Teachers and careers advisor give careful guidance and parental support is welcomed.
