| By Keanu Griffin By Keanu Griffin Year Eight On 15th February, a group of boys from Year Eight held our first pizza baguette stall to collect money for the charity organisation Water Aid. As many of our readers may know, Water Aid builds wells and supplies water to people in under-developed countries around the world. São Lourenço pupils have been supporting this for several years and have received letters and certificates from Water Aid. The idea for the stall came after an assembly about Water Aid. We were then asked to think of ideas for fundraising. At break time, we were released early from our classes to set up the stall. We put out some tables and set up all the equipment that we needed to make the baguettes. I do have to admit that we were very disorganised. When break time finally arrived, the flow of customers was overwhelming. We had not expected this amount of customers and did manage to sell a lot of baguettes. At lunch time we were much more organised because we had help from Dougie and we now knew that we could expect more customers. We are going to hold the baguette stall at lunch time after half term on Wednesdays. Also, Mrs Stevens mentioned that if you have any spare change lying around your house that you don’t really need, you can fill up a small water bottle and bring it in to school. This will then be put together with other small bottles to fill up a big bottle and this will then be given to Water Aid. I hope you consider collecting some money for Water Aid. There are several boys involved in helping to make the baguette sales a success, including Benjamin, Keanu, Alexander, Oliver, Carlos and Niklas in Year Eight. Also, we owe a big thanks to Mrs Tilson for letting us use her little oven and also to Mr Dougie Knowler for helping out on the day and ensuring we had extra baguettes. |
