The Dracula 'Spectacula'

Over the years our school has performed many different titles for their Christmas production. For me, this is my fifth year at EISL, my fifth Christmas production and my fifth article on the Christmas production. However, this year’s production comes with its own surprises and twists to it. It is not the sort of thing you would imagine someone doing for a Christmas show, yet we are. Ladies and Gentlemen, this year we present to you The Dracula Spectacula.

This show is a fun-filled comedy involving a young naïve school teacher who takes her three students on a trip to Transylvania where they accidentally cross paths with the infamous Count Dracula. Nadia is captured and held prisoner until the hero, Dr Nicholas Necrophiliac and his companion Father O’Stake come to save her.

Sabine made her stage debut this year as the leading lady, Miss Nadia Naïve, whilst Sam Segurado returned to the school and played the part of Dr. Nick.

The evil duo from last year was back again as Andrew Adamson donned the and Ed Baker played his servant Genghis. The ever loyal Ben Pugsley took to our stage again to play the part of the inn keeper Herr Hans, whilst Anna Weinbeck made her second appearance in a production as Ben’s wife Frau Gretel.

The students were played by Sam, Sam and Freddy. That is Sam Pugsley, Freddy Waite and Sam Warman. All three appeared in last year’s production where Sam Pugsley played the main role of Albert Ross, Freddy played the local Alan of Almancil and Samantha played the roles of town crier, the maid and a merry man.

Father O’Stake was played by Rory Healy who, after months of work did manage to perfect his Irish accent before the opening night, was playing his first major role in a production and did a great job.

Of course we must give a huge thank you to Mrs Spencer, Mrs. Holland and Mrs. Savage for resisting the urge to kill a cast member or multiple cast members for that matter. Also, a huge thank you goes to Mr. Savage for resisting the urge to kill a director, and for his great work as musical director. There was, however, input and help from many other sources and we must give credit to Ms van Allen for the back drop and other scenery, to Mrs. Cole for making many of the costumes, and to many parents and staff for making cloaks and other costumes. The play was a huge success and everyone who came loved it. If you did not get a chance to see this year’s production for what ever reason, we hope you will come to next years, but get your tickets early because with such high calibre actors, tickets are set to sell out within minutes.
