Looking to the Future - Not Too Far Away!

By Robert Taylor

Architects DrawingWe recently received the excellent news that the official permission to build our new school has been granted.  This has been a long time in the waiting for many pupils, parents and staff and is certainly a welcome move in the right direction.
Plans are currently in place to begin the construction process after Easter.  We have been assured that the total construction phase will be between 14-20 months, which could mean we will have the school ready for September 2006.
The new school will be able to accommodate up to 500 pupils in total.  We are planning for a wider range of subjects to be on offer as well as to provide much improvement in conditions.  Sports, Music, Drama, and specialist rooms for Art, Design Technology, ICT and Science will all be catered for at a much higher standard than that which we are currently able to offer.  Larger and brighter Primary School classrooms will be situated together in one block, giving more of a ‘whole school’ feel.  Pre-school and Reception will have their own ‘Foundation Unit’ with the specialised areas that children of this young age require.
I am well aware that many people will miss the ‘cosiness’ of our current site but we must all play our part in ensuring that our school’s philosophies of providing a caring and supportive learning environment are not lost in the move to new and improved premises.  I for one am very much looking forward to the school we all deserve.
