Year 7

Portuguese History  On 17th February our two classes went on a fantastic trip to Silves. We all boarded the coach at school and drove through the Algarve to Silves. On the way Mrs Stevens acted as our tour guide and gave us lots of information about the history of Silves Town and the surrounding area. It has apparently been inhabited by many people from thousands of years ago, Neolithic man, Romans, Arabs and many more. Historians have found this out from all the artifacts they have found in the area.
When we arrived we went straight to the Fabrica do Ingles to see the Drama production performed in Portuguese.
on the castel The acting was very good all the actors could also sing and dance. The drama was about the pollution going on in the sea and how we can make it better by stopping people from dumping toxic waste and rubbish into the sea. There were five characters: A crab, a shark, a whale, a dolphin and a sardine. Their costumes were very realistic and well made. They needed a king so they decided to do a singing competition and who ever won would be the king  and in the end the dolphin won, even though we all thought that the shark was the best .
After the show we had our lunch in the gardens and walked up the great hill to the castle. In the castle we had work sheets to answer and we had to do some sketches of the surrounding area. The castle is still being excavated by archeologists and Mrs Stevens said it had changed a lot since her last visit. When we had finished at the castle it was time to go home and on the coach we were told some legends and ghost stories connected with Silves castle.
We had a really enjoyable time and found out a lot about Silves and the castle.
