| The New School |
By Jean Chinn This is probably the most exciting time in the history of EISL.
We have mushroomed on the present site to the point where we cannot accommodate
more students or offer facilities that are badly needed. How I have
envied the ivy covered portals of St Julian’s with the carpeted Head’s office
(larger than any of our classrooms) or the stately position of the International
School of the Algarve, the entrance banked with beautifully tended flower
beds.

Now, at last it’s our turn. The plans are prepared and now we have to decide
finally which site to choose and off we go! The only minor stumbling
block is a small matter of €1,000,000.
The school is not my future-: that is ten years too late. It is the
future for all children intending to complete their education in Portugal
and for all the parents intending to make their lives here. You should
all have the school you deserve. After long years of existing in our
‘interesting’ premises, you now have the opportunity to have a custom built
establishment to be proud of. Please make it happen.
Finally as I leave the school with many precious memories to keep me going
(who will you draw cartoons of now Grant?). I will never forget the challenging
and wonderful years spent here.
My best wishes to you all.
