On the Friday, we left our school for
Salir at about 4:30. When we got there we had to wait a while for
Porsches school because they were late, but that wasnt a
problem, we amused ourselves talking, drinking coffee &
singing! When Porsches arrived, we followed a Landrover up a
hill, it was a very muddy path & quite scary as we
couldnt see much! But, it was fun!
At the campsite, we set up our tents in a huge circle around the
campfire. My friend & I put our tent up quickly, then watched
the others with amusement. Its hard to put a tent up in the
dark; some even managed to put theirs up the wrong way round!
Well, after the tents were up, we tried to make dinner
I
didnt succeed, I had to get rid of mine, it went so wrong!
I couldnt tell if it was undercooked or overcooked, it just
looked so awful I got rid of it! After dinner we
stood around the fire for a while singing old songs with the main
supervisors, which was fun, but we soon went to bed, we were too
worn out. It was freezing at night & it was a relief to get
up early as we could warm up in the sunshine!
So, on Saturday we went on the
orienteering course. We were given a map & we followed signs.
Our team got terribly lost! We arrived at the camp 3 or 4 hours
later after ending up walking back to the village we had arrived
at the night before, & staggering up the hill! Previously, we
had been walking by some kind of factory & then ended up on a
motorway
But thankfully, we arrived back at the camp!
Eventually! We were very proud to have found our way in the end
though! So, then we went & collapsed in our tents for a while
then made our dinner. That night, being our last, a few of us
stayed up late sitting around the campfire talking.
The next morning we put down our tents, packed up & the few
who didnt rock climb drove down to Salir in a Range Rover.
It was the bumpiest ride ever; we were screaming & laughing
the whole way! At the café in Salir, we waited for our parents
to pick us up. After a fun, yet extremely tiring weekend, I think
we were all pretty relieved to go home to a nice warm bath &
our beds!
