November Newsletter
by Sam Durham Welcome Back!
Dear Parents,
Now begins one of the busiest half terms in the school calendar; please check
for important dates opposite. The staff and children are working very
hard in their rehearsals for the various Key Stage performances, in December.
Thank you to parents who are helping with costumes and at events.

Mrs. Sam Durham
Acting Head Teacher
New-look Newsletter
You’ll notice we have gone to a new format for the monthly newsletter.
Parents and staff at the October PTA meeting gave us some great feedback on
our communication efforts, including the need to distinguish the newsletter
from other letters. We are also updating our web site to include a user-friendly
calendar, as well as current news and events. As always, we value your
input and constructive suggestions.
“Lights Out” by Nicky Moran
This play will be performed in the School Hall on the evenings of Friday 24th
and Saturday 25th November. This promises to be a great night out.
Winter Fair
Donations for the school stall are needed such as: books, video/cd/dvd’s,
unwanted gifts, toys in good condition and raffle prizes. Any parent
requiring a stall should put their request in writing to Dona Lesley (Year
Two Coordinator).
Parent/Teacher Meetings
Meetings will be held after school on Monday 13th and Wednesday 15th November.
You will be able to sign up for appointments with teachers in the school office.
Shoe Boxes – Samaritan Appeal
The children were touched by the plight of children in various parts of the
world and enthusiastically set about compiling shoe boxes of presents for
them. I am very proud of the way our children continually show concern for
people less fortunate than themselves.
Senior School London Trip
From the 12th to 17th of October a group of our senior students, accompanied
by Ms Van Allen, Mrs Holland and Mrs Lewis, enjoyed a very successful, cultural
visit to London.
School Bus
A group of teachers are investigating the possibility of buying/leasing/renting
a bus for school trips and transporting our sports teams & School Band
to venues. If any parent has experience in such matters and is willing to
give advice please contact the school office.
First Aid
Children often incur minor scrapes or bites and stings. Regulations
advise us that we should not put creams or plasters on injuries. If
you would prefer your child to be treated with over-the-counter antiseptic
cream, sting relief or plasters we need your permission. Please complete
the tear off slip and return to your child’s class teacher/tutor.
Harvest Festival
On October 20th the whole school celebrated Harvest Festival at an assembly
in which each Key Stage gave a performance. An amazing amount of food
was collected and distributed to needy families in the Loulé area.
Thank you to everyone who donated to this worthy cause.
Language lesson
After school German lessons and Dutch lessons for Dutch children are on offer.
Details in school office.
