| Dear Parents, Staff, parents and pupils have always worked together to make EISL a school to be proud of. However, I have noticed recently a growing trend of pupils not respecting the uniform of the school and I would like your support in reversing this trend. There is a particularly silly fashion of chewing holes in the sleeves to push thumbs through – I kid you not!! The number of excuses for wearing trainers is escalating and some of the girls are wearing jeans style trousers, which fade and look scruffy very quickly. Help me get rid of the “grunge look” by referring to the relevant Parent and Pupil Guide for your child on uniform and jewellery regulations and ensuring that he or she arrives at school correctly attired. Kind Regards ![]() Mrs Sam Durham Acting Head Teacher Spring is in the air!And so are the caterpillar allergens! This is the time of year when sensitive skin becomes itchy and asthma sufferers, like myself, become wheezy. The problem is an Algarvian one, not just a school one, because of the number of pine trees in the area. The pine trees on school grounds have been sprayed several times before the development of the caterpillars but, apparently, these pests are becoming resistant to the chemicals. Any nests which are sighted are removed immediately. Unfortunately, some children are hyper-sensitive to the allergens in the air and dust and have had allergic reactions. I would like to reassure parents that we are doing everything possible to combat this perennial problem.![]() AbsencesIf absences are known in advance the school should be informed in writing prior to the actual date. For continuity of your child’s education, absences outside of the school holidays, other than those due to illness, should be kept to a minimum. Teachers are not obliged to produce work for pupils taking holidays outside of the official school holidays.UN Water Aid DayWe are going to support this worthy cause by raising money for Water Aid. We are planning to change BUCKETS OF COINS into BUCKETS OF WATER. The fund-raising activities will be ongoing from February to June. |

Children up to Year 3 attended the Schools’ Carnival Parade in Loulé, dressed as princesses, knights on horses or unicorns or as part of a very big dragon! Their costumes looked fantastic as usual and they all enjoyed their morning. The whole school turned out to wave them off.Jack Glatzer came for the day to give incredible violin performances to every Key Stage area of the school. All pupils were enthralled by this renowned musician who plays all over the world. Year 10 & 11 MathematicsThis half term Mr Larkins and Mr Warman will, once again, be offering extra tuition for the examination groups. These sessions will take place on Tuesdays after school. |

An Appeal for a Sponsor The school basketball team has had some considerable success and we feel that we are great ambassadors for the school. The team is becoming more popular, with new members joining each year, and our skills are improving all the time. In order to help drive our success forward, we are appealing for a sponsor to purchase new basketball kit so that our image reflects our talent. This is a great opportunity for an individual or a business to get involved with a "winning team" and as such they could advertise themselves as sponsors. If you feel that you can help and would like to be associated with the basketball team please contact Mrs Stevens or Mrs Fruish ![]() |
