The
PK World Wide Web site has a lot to offer the school,
especially as it grows and we all get more used to it as
a media and source of information. As such I would not
like it to get embroiled in permission forms, bureaucracy
and other restrictions. Therefore the idea is to provide
a level of protection and privacy to the pupils, while
still enabling the site to publish meaningful features at
short notice.
For example, it would be a great shame if Eliza's
relations around the world could not see a photograph of
her in the school play, but there is no need for it to be
labelled as "Eliza Brown, aged 12 tel: 289 123456
e-mail ....etc".
Hence we have come up with the following code of conduct
for the website:
- No pupil's
name will be associated with a particular person
in a photograph.
- No pupil's
full name will be given without the express
consent of the parents.
- No means
of direct contact (e-mail address, telephone
number etc) will be given for any pupil.
- Any parent
may decide that they do not wish their child to
appear in the school website. They should inform
us so, and then any photographs and references
will be removed (or in the case of group shots
such as the choir we may blur the child's face).
- The above
applies to the school website. We accept no
responsibility for any content a pupil may place
on websites hosted elsewhere. We welcome the idea
of pupils creating their own home pages and will
happily place links from our site to theirs.
However, before doing so we would contact the
parents to ensure that they are aware of their
child's site, and also view its contents
ourselves.
Please note that in 4) above the emphasis is on YOU to
say that you do not want your child to ever appear on the
website. A copy of this has been sent home to each
family.
